Construction Maintenance Manager (full-time)

We have a career opportunity for a Construction Maintenance Manager that will be working out of our head office located above our Edmonton South store location.
The Job Summary of the Construction Maintenance Manager is as follows:
• Works as Planet Organic Market's representative on construction and renovation projects.
• Works with Operations and POM's designated consultants to provide the necessary coordination and control for new store projects, expansion and renovations.
• Completes Architectural & Mechanical drawing reviews to ensure proposed layouts meet POM requirements/expectations.
• Assists in new site selection determining physical viability of proposed locations.
• Controls construction budgets and reduce costs wherever possible.
• Plans for and oversees regular maintenance of all POM stores.
Work Conditions
• 24/7 availability may be required
• Physical ability to lift up to 50lb
• Travel to the site, and off-site locations will be required
• Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
• Overtime as required
• Hazards associated with the trade
• Work both indoors and outdoors
Requirements
• High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
• Completion of a Construction, Building Technology Diploma or Engineering Degree
• Technical Diploma, Professional Engineer, C.E.T., Gold Seal Constructor or PMP
• 10 or more years of Commercial Construction experience, or 15 years of experience as a licensed electrical or mechanical Journeyman
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans
• A solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques
• Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills
• Effectiveness in the areas of construction safety and productivity
• Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation

Produce Merchandiser (full-time)
We are looking for a Produce Merchandiser that will be working out of either our Edmonton location or Vancouver location. This position is responsible for ensuring that products appear in the right store, at the appropriate time, and in the correct quantities. This involves working closely with the department manager teams, at store level, to accurately forecast trends, plan stock levels and monitor performance. Key job functions include setting the pricing file, product selection, liaising with vendors, and assisting in the monitoring inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities
Planning product ranges and preparing sales and stock plans in conjunction with store level dept managers.
Liaising with analysts, store management teams, suppliers/vendors and distributors.
Maintaining a comprehensive library of appropriate data.
Working closely with visual display staff and department heads to decide how goods should be
displayed to maximize customer interest and sales.
Producing layout plans for stores.
Forecasting profits and sales, and optimizing the sales volume and profitability of designated
product areas.
Planning budgets and presenting sales forecasts and figures for new products;
Controlling stock levels based on forecasts for the season.
Using specialist computer software, for example to handle sales statistics, produce sales
projections and present spreadsheets and graphs.
Analyzing every aspect of bestsellers (for example, the bestselling price points, colours or
styles), and ensuring that bestsellers reach their full potential.
Monitoring slow sellers, and taking action to reduce prices or set promotions as necessary;
Gathering information on customers' reactions to products.
Analyzing previous season's sales and reporting on the current season's lines.
Making financial presentations to senior managers.
Visit manufacturers to appreciate production processes.
Meeting with suppliers and managing the distribution of stock, by negotiating cost prices,
ordering stock, agreeing timescales and delivery dates, and completing the necessary
paperwork.
Identifying production and supply difficulties and dealing with any problems or delays as they
arise.
Managing, training and supervising junior staff.
Managing the monthly flyer, selection of product and billing.
Managing Plan o grams and ensuring product mix and set is inline with corp. agreements.
Ensuring all products are on file.
Evaluation of the entire supply base, existing and potential, to secure most competitive total
cost, quality and operational performance.
Increase inventory turns through best purchasing practices and optimum inventory level.
Follow up undelivered goods and resolve problems and disputes.
Job Requirements
Post secondary education, in business or retail management.
5 years experience merchandising in the retail industry with an emphasis in perishables, Produce and Floral; "hands on" experience initiating new programs and seasonal sets, implementing new policies and procedures.
Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and leadership skills.
Proficient computer skills; MS applications (Word, Excel)
Ability to think analytically and strategically to achieve set business priorities and goals.
Strong job planning and negotiating skills and the ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic
atmosphere.
Proven ability to contribute to category plans in line with corporate strategies. Ability to gather
and analyze customer and market insight and information in the product identification.

Job Description
The Human Resources Recruiter is a key contributor to recruitment and selection of employees by advertising career opportunities, screening resumes, interviewing, and checking references. Also prepares and maintains reports that are necessary to monitor efficiencies within the Human Resources department.
Reports to -- Director of Human Resources.
• Monitors recruitment needs on a daily basis identifying what positions need to be advertised, reviewing results of career advertising to date. Conducts regular follow-up with Store Managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans and need to expand advertising.
• Advertises all job openings on internal and external job boards as well as the company website. Writes and coordinates the placement of the job postings, newspaper ads and web site postings. Consults with HR Director on advertising of corporate positions.
• Manages the flow of paper and on-line applications, while maintaining a filing system for competitions.
• Conducts the first review of resumes and forwards resumes of candidates who meet the position requirements to Store Managers.
• Responds to inquiries from Government funded placement agencies regarding the possibility of considering their clients on competitions.
• When assigned, coordinates and conducts screening interviews for supervisory positions. Participates in the interview process by conducting telephone screening interviews and qualifying candidates for second interviews with Store Managers.
• Conducts reference checks, drafts offer letters and sends regret letters to candidates.
• When assigned, coordinates scheduling of interviews for department managers and participates in screening interviews of Department Managers.
• Prepares and distributes company announcements of new hires.
• Responds to employment inquiries from candidates.
Recruitment Projects and Reports:
• Prepares a weekly recruitment status report documenting each competition in terms of advertising to date, responses to postings, resumes screened and referred to Store Managers, interviews held to date and scheduled in the future.
• In consultation with Store Managers, Director of Operations and HR Director, identifies shortcomings in interview plans and makes suggestions for improvement.
• Researches employment testing options to assist hiring managers in identifying candidates who have the required competencies.
• Identifies alternative job boards and assesses the effectiveness of placing ads on these boards.
Employee Relations – responding to HR hotline:
• Answers phone line and responds to employees’ inquiries about HR policies.
• Answers phone line listening to employees’ concerns and complaints; documents the phone calls and refers issues to HR Director.
Administrative and Other Responsibilities:
• Maintains databases through regular archiving of inactive files.
Job Qualifications
• Post secondary education in Human Resources Management
• A minimum of one year experience in Human Resources
• Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills with orientation to detail
• Ability to recognize, handle and protect highly sensitive and confidential information
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills as well as an ability to work as part of a team
• Proficient in the use of a variety of software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
